Opened in 1852 by the Parisian merchant Aristide Boucicaut, it is considered to be one of the oldest department store. At the forefront of innovation, Le Bon Marché was among the very first to offer a wide diversity of goods where shoppers could walk around and browse undisturbed in a one and unique setting. It was also the first to offer seasonal sales.

Several refurbishment have been made to keep up with clients new needs yet the authentic Parisian elegance and refinement of the place is undiminished and continues to fascinate tourists from all over the world up until today.
